Dennis Hutchings Song Writing Workshops 2022/2023

Dennis Hutchings Songwriting Workshops

Dennis Hutchings was the Patron of Military Veterans Creative Arts. Dennis’s family and the Military Veterans creative Arts have decided that Dennis will live on and his support for Veterans will be continued. Dennis wanted to raise funds to support Veterans with their mental health and Well-being, through creative arts. As the Patron of the Military Veterans Creative Arts (MVCA) C.I.C 12229585, the support Dennis gave to us was priceless, he often said he wished he could do more to help but as we know his situation regarding the court hearing and raising awareness for all Soldiers A to Z and his health meant his time was limited in doing all that he wanted to do.

However, Dennis signed exclusive prints commissioned by the Military Veterans Creative Arts and authentication certificates on the 4th July 2021 and then again in September following my visit to him in Plymouth where I presented Dennis with the original Framed Art and merchandise items, these were gifted to Dennis and his family thanking him for his support. At the time Dennis signed these he knew he only had months to live, this only came to light after Dennis passed away.

Suzie and her associate Simon spent some time with Dennis in Padstow in the summer of 2020, to begin the process of working with Dennis to create songs using his words. Between them, they gathered quite an extensive amount of information, about his career, his vast experience and the extensive knowledge he had gathered over his lifetime. Following that meeting, the song ‘I’ll Try To Remember, was released in December 2020 and was followed by several more songs.

Songwriting Workshops Continued

After discussions with members of the Dennis Hutchings family, we have decided to run songwriting workshops which will be called the ‘Dennis Hutchings Songwriting workshop’. Our aim is initially to run these once a year as a 5-7 day residential workshop for Armed Forces Service men and women serving or retired. We will have songwriters and musicians, recording engineers and a full production team to enable each attendee to learn the process and benefits of songwriting. At the end of the 5 – 7 days, you will have a completed SONG that will be PERFORMED at the Dennis Hutchings Black Tie Songwriting Workshop event and you will be presented with a certificate of attending the workshop. We hope this event will raise awareness and support to enable us to continue and perhaps expand those workshops. An album will be professionally made which we will sell to also raise funds for our next workshop.

Dennis Limited signed prints will be sold to support Veteran Creative Art workshops and projects 2022-2023. In total there are 44 Uniform, 44 Prideaux Place and 43 Red Tunic prints, signed by Dennis prints. Print numbers 1 to 10 of each will be auctioned. We also have unsigned prints available in various sizes along with merchandise items.

This workshop is in the early planning stages but we have some fantastic ideas that we will keep you updated on.

Please register your interest below or by emailing suzie@mvcacare.org. This first Workshop will be for 12 Veterans – Hurry and book your place.
